Back to Back Nor’easter’s

Monday, March 1st, 2010 10:43am UTC

Last week we had two storms follow that famous up the coast path right into New York State.  The first storm hit Wednesday the 24th; we picked up only a few inches as most of the storm went to the east.  The second storm moved in Thursday morning and continued through the day.  The peak intensity was in the evening hours on Thursday.  At the end of Thursday we had 13 fresh inches of snow on the ground, and more on the way.  Continued to snow through the night, slowing by daybreak and continuing off and on for the rest of the day.  When it was all said and done we had 21 inches of heavy wet snow.  Places East of us picked up over 5 feet of snow from these two storms.  First snowfall over a foot since April 16, 2007.

yr.no Forecast

Saturday, February 6th, 2010 11:25pm UTC

Today I added the yr.no forecast. This is a forecast for our area from the Norwegian Meteorological Institute.  This is a pretty reliable forecast and will be worth checking before going outside.  In addition to the forecast is another feature called yowindow.  This is a picture that will show the current conditions, and also the forecast visually and with the predicted conditions listed too.

New month more updates

Monday, February 1st, 2010 11:31am UTC

Over the last month or so, East Masonville Weather has has many updates.

First we will start of with the advisories, now all of the advisories for our area are displayed on the top of the homepage and the first 6 “most severe” will display on the left hand menu bar.

Next is the records page, this had been modified for easy of viewing and decreased loading time.

I have completely revamped the Climate/Trends tab.  Underneath you will see various tabs, now with more detailed pages, brand new summary pages, and annual trends.  If you are interested in statistics at all, I recommend looking at these pages.

Finally in the About section I have added a page that at one click you can see if our data is up to date. To see that look at the station and site status page.

Anemometer Fixed

Thursday, August 27th, 2009 10:05pm UTC

Lately we have been having problems with the anemometer not spinning during low winds.  After further review I found glue was slowing the speed down a bit.  After cleaning and adjustment she looks to be back in 100% working order.
